LEARN TO LEAD

CHANGE YOUR WORLD

When you hit age 14, you're old enough to become one of our Young Leaders - if you think you can handle the challenge! Our Young Leaders are an amazing bunch of teenagers who run all aspects of the sessions - from public speaking, to admin, to cooking the food we eat, and more.

What does a Young Leader do?

Pretty much everything! Some of our young leaders' roles include:

  • Leading games

  • Cooking and serving the food and drinks

  • Planning the session talks, topics and discussion groups

  • Public speaking

  • Behaviour management

  • Behind-the-scenes administration

  • Manage the social media

  • Planning events and parties, with a budget to spend

  • Attend meetings to give suggestions on how we run youth

And lots more!

WHY?

There are loads of reasons to apply to be a young leader. These include:

  • Regular rewards and trips away, exclusive to young leaders - think Alton Towers, or trips to Blackpool.

  • It's brilliant for your CV, and we'll give you a great reference for employment or uni too.

  • Learn all sorts of skills - from confidence and public speaking to organisation and behaviour management.

  • We'll pay for professional training courses for anything you'd like to do, as long as it's relevant to youth leading - we've got young people qualified in Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, Autism Awareness, First Aid, Allergy Awareness, and more.

  • We listen seriously to your suggestions and ideas on how to make Revolution Youth even better.

  • You'll be invited to all the same social events, team training, meetings and debriefs as any adult youth worker.

  • It can lead to paid work - we pay some of our young leaders to help lead the holiday sessions we run.

WHAT'S THE

COMMITMENT?

Although there's loads of benefits, it's not an easy gig. We have very high expectations of all of our young leaders. These include:

  • Setting a great example to others through your behaviour and actions - and this even includes outside of our sessions. If you're brilliant in our sessions, but living the sort of life we can't point to as an example outside of the sessions, then that's not leadership - it's hypocrisy.

  • You'll have to go through an application process - generally, you'll have had to come to Revolution Youth for at least one full term, and complete the application below.

  • A commitment to come at least once a week to a session as a leader. Of course, if you're away, or unwell, that's fine - but you do need to let your team leader know.

  • Be keen to learn, and try new things - even things you're not good at. We're here to push you out of your comfort zone.

  • Be a good team worker, and not afraid of getting stuck in - even in the messy stuff!
